About the Artist

LINDA FERRO has been supporting and participating in music and language arts activities in California’s North Bay area for over twenty years. With loving support from a very musical family, she studied classical piano and voice, and later graduated with Distinction from Sonoma State University, studying linguistics and writing. Linda is passionate about singing, songwriting and performing, enjoying a broad spectrum of creative activities.  Favorite past projects include:

• Developing and implementing an elementary school vocal music program including community performances, as a Grant Recipient of the California Arts Council “Artist in the Schools” program;

• Planning and hosting a short special-feature program, “Songwriter’s Showcase” for local TV50 television station;

• Musical Director, pianist, and vocal coach for “The Marquee Theater” group and Camp Rose Players;

• Interviewing, singing with, and writing about the multi-talented Maya Angelou;

• Performing on TV50’s live broadcast music Telethon fundraiser event;

• Composing and performing live, the complete musical score for Santa Rosa High School’s ArtQuest’s production of “Dracula;”

• Writing short special feature articles for Sonoma County’s Upbeat Times;

• Producing and performing in two unique concerts in Santa Rosa: “Top Harps,” (Blues harmonica); and “Blues Divas,” at a local performing arts center.

In 2007, Linda joyously planned, recorded, and co-produced her debut solo CD, Remember This, at Prairie Sun Recording Studio in Cotati, California with Producer Mark (“Mooka”) Rennick. This expansive project is a multi-genre musical odyssey of original songs, with her grand piano and keyboard accompaniment, including Blues, Jazz, classy ballads and art-pieces, with supporting performances by amazing Bay Area studio artists and fine local musicians, including Volker Strifler on guitar, and Babtunde Lea on drums.

Linda has enjoyed performing her Blues and Jazz-infused music as a solo artist, and as a lead singer/keyboardist in the bands Catalyst, My Other Car, Blue Blazes and more recently, with UltraSound. Now focusing on her solo career, THE LINDA FERRO band is off and running! When not working on music projects, Linda enjoys reading, hangin' out with family and her beau Mal, diggin' and planting around her home on Sonoma Mountain, and will soon resume working on creative writing projects, including a children’s alphabet book and a poetry collection.  Linda lives among the Oak trees with her dog "Roxy," too many keyboards and too many pairs of shoes.
