Announcement of CD Release - "Remember This"
August 19, 2007
Last Day Saloon, Santa Rosa, CA

This unique concert will be a celebration of thirty years of songwriting and the long-awaited release of vocalist and keyboardist Linda Ferro’s solo CD, Remember This. This debut CD is a result of eighteen months of intense focus, planning, pre-production, rehearsals, recording, mixing, insanity, laughter, inspiration, and joined creative forces.

Some of the Bay Area’s finest studio artists and local musicians were invited to participate in recording Linda’s original material and have contributed amazing creative energy. The production of this ambitious project was guided with skill and care by engineer/producer and studio owner, Mark “Mooka” Rennick at Prairie Sun Recording Studio (prairiesun.com) in Cotati, California. Tireless and talented engineer/soundman Matt Wright assisted production, with fine mastering by Tim Gennert.

On August 19th, many artists who recorded on Remember This will gather again to perform and re-create some of their musical magic to enhance Linda’s songs and powerful vocals. The program content for this sure-to-be-fun concert will be, like the CD, a multi-genre musical odyssey, including rockin,’ moanin’ and sultry Blues, songs of bad-love and good-love, artistic ballads, a straight-ahead jazz trio tune, cool synthesizer pieces, island feel-good tunes, a musical and educational journey to the Serengeti, and anything else she can come up with! You’ll hear a full range of vocal color and lyrical content -- growling, tender, thought-provoking, heart-wrenching, sugary, sad and steamy -- while her colleagues get plenty of opportunities to strut their stuff. And we know they will!

Almost without fail, when Linda performs, someone from the audience asks her to sing a Janis Joplin song, so she’ll include her favorite “Piece of My Heart” at this program, honoring Janis (and songwriters!) with sincere passion and authenticity.

Also featured at this particular event will be recording artist and songwriter Volker Strifler (volkerstrifler.com), a Bay Area favorite Blues guitarist/vocalist whose stellar guitar work appears on ten out of seventeen tracks on Remember This. Volker has been extremely busy this summer, spreading his awesome sound all over Europe and Northern California, but he’ll be back in town to rock and soothe the Last Day Saloon with Linda and colleagues.

Linda says, “There’ll be guitars, horns and keyboards (oh my!). Vibes, congas, stand-up bass, too. So all that’s left to create a success, is for me to look out from the stage and see you!”

$10 at the door includes $5 discount for new-release CD.
Restaurant and bar will be open to serve food and beverages - All ages welcome
